A specialist in underwater rescues called Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is retired in Thailand after an unsuccessful mission because of the unexpected encounter with an underwater monster. Later, Jonas is required by those responsible for an oceanographic expedition to help rescue a deep water submersible, which is his ex-wife Lori (Jessica McNamee), who has been attacked by the same monster: a huge prehistoric shark called Megalodon.
